The final shot of 1997's Jackie Brown shows a close-up of Pam Grier's face, looking rather heartbroken while lip synching Bobby Womack's Across 110th Street. Driving away from a love that could have been, Jackie Brown (played by Grier) sings along the lines:
♪ Across 110th street,
Pimps trying to catch a woman that's weak.
Across 110th street,
Pushers won't let the junkie go free.
Across 110th street,
Woman trying to catch a trick on the street.
Across 110th street,
You can find it all in the street. ♪
It's definitely one of the most bittersweet last frames in a movie. Ever. It is also an affirmation that Quentin Tarantino's film is actually a love story, which is set against the backdrop of money laundering, double crossing, and the usual QT elements.
